IMPORTANCE OF LOCAL MEDIA

Join us for our monthly Virtual Programming focusing on Professional Development - we have the pleasure of welcoming Jessica Hagan, President & GM of KTVB in Idaho who will discuss the Importance of Local Media.

In this session, our speaker will cover the power and importance of local media and speak to the state of local news. She will share how business leaders can refine and prepare to share their stories and talk about earned media opportunities for storytelling through sponsored content. Attendees will leave the conversation with a better understanding of how to tell a compelling story about themselves and their organizations and the opportunities to share those stories through local media.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER

Jessica Hagan | President + GM, KTVB

Jessica is the President and General Manager for KTVB News Channel 7 in Boise and KTFT in Twin Falls, both NBC affiliates owned by parent company TEGNA. Before making the move to Idaho, Jessica was Director of Sales for the KING 5 Media Group in Seattle. Over the past 21 years, Jessica has held various positions in management, business development and local and national sales.

As a Western Washington Native, Jessica grew up watching the local news stations thinking one day she’d be an anchor sharing her community’s stories. She pursued her “journalism dreams” by attending the Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University, earning a BA in Broadcast Journalism and Communication. After an internship at Northwest Cable News, Jessica found her path in advertising sales and marketing with the KING 5 Media Group.

As her career path evolved, she returned to school and earned an MBA from the Albers School at Seattle University with focused work in the management of people, marketing, and emotional intelligence. Jessica serves on the Board of Directors for the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights and is a former Co-Chair and a current Advisor for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Institute’s Innovators Network. Additionally, she has served on the Board of Directors for the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce and on Seattle Children’s Hospital Corporate Leadership Council. She also enjoys mentoring students and connecting people, non-profits, and businesses with opportunity.

Outside of work, Jessica enjoys attending concerts, traveling, gardening, and spending time with her husband, sons and bulldog.
