NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT
This message is for all the ladies who feel like they don’t measure up, are not ready, feel unworthy, or are unprepared. There is no time like the present.
I am the Marion County Director not because it was my aim but because I shook off the thoughts that I had nothing to offer and offered what I thought I could, which was a willingness to help wherever there was a need. Never in my imagination did I think I would be given an opportunity in leadership. Being asked to step into this role was a huge eye-opener.
Being told I was capable and even made for the position was something I did not see in myself. I didn’t take the offer lightly, but with fear and trembling, I stepped into shoes I felt were too big for my feet. That was just the start. In stepping into those shoes, I was given the chance to watch current leadership, learn how things were being done, and slowly move into more responsibility. Even now, it was such a blessing not provided in other networks.
Now, as I wrangle with all the things that come with this position, I see where I can do better. I see where I have grown. I also see the opportunity for each and every one of us to step into the unknown and make a difference. Not only in our own personal growth but our professional growth and it’s in that moment of doubt, of not enough, where we can find the courage to become what we were meant to be. Having the guidance of the women of WtoWN around me to help direct me and make this chapter all it can be is the best environment I can ask for. Not only have I grown in my personal life but I have seen this “stepping into the unknown” serve a purpose in my professional career as well. It has given me the confidence to know that I can lead, and lead well.
It has helped in so many ways that it would take too long to list them all. (So, if you want me to tell you, reach out and invite me to coffee!) But a few things I will mention here is that leadership isn’t just making all the decisions. It is being given an opportunity to steward the authority given responsibly and in such a way that you see leadership in others, mentor and grow new leaders, and, most importantly, serve others with a humble heart. These things are just a few characteristics of what make WtoWN a different kind of network.
Additionally, I get to let you in on a sneak peek of what is happening in the Marion County Chapter. The ladies stepping into their new leadership roles are working hard and preparing to launch an amazing event so stay tuned for more on that.
Remember, we are stronger together. So, let’s take a moment and reach out to each other and make this a sacred space where we can all grow to our fullest potential. Stepping into the unknown, knowing, we have the women of WtoWN as the wind to our back, sending us forward and helping us be better.
