ABOUT OUR HOST

SHI CHOONG

EVENT PLANNER SHI, LLC

I am a wedding planner, a process engineer, a foodie and a dog mom. I have a PhD in Analytical Chemistry and I was a license-holder and organizer of TEDx events. I am logical, creative, driven, fun and assertive. Living in different countries and states has expanded my palette of global cultures.

I am a Malaysian Chinese, born and raised in Malaysia. My parents left when I was 15, forcing me to be an adult overnight to raise three younger siblings. Growing up in this unique environment, I was in a constant fight-or-flight mindset. As a first-generation college student, an Asian woman, an international student with no family or financial support system, I experienced very strong imposter syndrome. I felt like I had to accomplish this long self-made checklist to prove my self-worth until recently when I realized I don’t need to. I am proud of myself and what I have accomplished. I am proud of who I am.

I love wedding planning and I have found that I am naturally good at it! I have decided to follow my passion and do what I love – I love LOVE! Love is beautiful and love is healing.

I support modern, sustainable weddings. I encourage a supportive and collaborative community that celebrates diversity and encourages authenticity, regardless of our skin tone and who or what we love.

A year ago, I was struggling with my body image and self-esteem. I constantly felt fat, ugly, and not good enough.

In Jan 2024, I have decided I don't want to feel that way anymore. I love to have my photos taken. I am comfortable in front of the camera. I feel beautiful, confident, and myself in front of the camera. That's when I decided to be a lifestyle model. This is a new chapter of my life. I wanted to be a lifestyle model because it reminds me how beautiful I am and what happy looks like.
