About our hostess…

Robin May

Founder, Owner

World HeARTs Fair Trade

At a young age, Robin developed a love of travel and lived as an exchange student in Japan for a summer. She spent the first part of her career in "corporate retail," working for multi-national companies, traveling extensively on business trips, seeing firsthand the good and, sadly, the bad of manufacturing and the impact on the laborers and our environment. However, she always loved connecting with local artists and craftspeople wherever she traveled and brought home many treasures!

Leaving corporate and driven by a passion for a more ethical and equitable world, the idea of World HeARTs was born on a trip with her husband and Co-Founder Kurt to SE Asia in 2015. After the trip, Robin and Kurt serendipitously connected with like-minded individuals at a Fair Trade conference the same year. Fast forward to 2017 and a move back to Oregon (Robin's home state), Robin launched World HeARTs Fair Trade as a "pop-up" boutique. In 2018, she opened a store in Oregon City and, in 2022, a larger location in Willamette.

Their mission - Putting people and planet before profits and giving our customers an opportunity to Shop with Intention and Give with Purpose.

All of their products are sourced from Fair Trade communities throughout the developing world. Fair Trade ensures fair wages to the artisans, safe working conditions, environmental responsibility, economic growth, and more. Fair Trade is an approach to business and to development based on dialogue, transparency, and respect that seeks to create greater equity in the international trading system. Fair Trade is a movement with a vision of a world in which justice, equity, and sustainable development are at the heart of trade structures and practices so that everyone, through their work, can maintain a decent, sustainable, and dignified livelihood. Fair Trade supports farmers and craftspeople in developing countries who are socially and economically marginalized. These producers often face steep hurdles in finding markets and customers for their crafts.

World HeARTs offers a wonderful selection of Global Goods that Nourish the Soul! Jewelry, fashion accessories, home goods, décor, gifts, kitchen accessories, baby items, and a wonderful selection of coffee, teas, chocolate, oils, vinegars, and more! All handcrafted, all ethically made, all sustainably sourced, all fabulous!
