THE POWER OF EMPOWERED WOMEN
Over the last decade, there has been a growing movement of women’s empowerment - the identity of being a “girl’s girl” can be found all over social media and is becoming more of the norm. But, for those of us who are millennials or Gen-X, we remember the days of women being pitted against one another and this idea that women were “nothing but drama.” With time and exposure to communities like ours, we fortunately learned that this is not the case at all.
With wisdom and the beauty of hindsight, I have found that the people who are the first to hype me up, to inspire a level of confidence that is empowering, and to respond with compassion and grace are almost always women. I believe in the incredible power of women lifting each other up. Women to Women Network takes this to heart through their mission to empower women at all stages of their business or career to reach their full potential, step into leadership, and make an impact in their communities. This resonates deeply with me. Who wouldn’t want to be part of such a dynamic force for good?
Growing up, girls are held to a higher standard - we are expected to be polite, more mature, and understand our place in the world - unlearning that and coming to understand the power of a community of women when we collaborate and grow together is certainly not without its challenges. But when you finally break yourself from falling back into negative thought patterns about other women, you truly feel unstoppable. WtoWN has been incredibly valuable to me, both personally and professionally. Personally, I’ve found a community of inspiring women who uplift and motivate me—to connect, collaborate, and grow while sharing ideas, expertise, and inspiration—has been realized in every fabulous interaction. Professionally, the connections and insights I've gained have been like gold dust. This community has propelled my career forward and opened doors I never knew existed. It’s like having a VIP pass to success.
Now that I have fully embraced the power of positivity and the value of being connected to other like-minded women, I can’t imagine walking through the world in any other way. In some ways, I envy the younger generations because they have had access to this “be a girl’s girl” mentality earlier than the rest of us. In others, it makes me excited for the future, and all that is possible with the next generation starting out on a more positive path and will certainly be a force to be reckoned with.
